Steps to
a New Lawn
Starting a new
lawn does not have to be difficult. We've got some tips to make
this process a little easier.
1. Have your
soil tested for proper nutrients by bringing a sample to our office.
2. Remove sticks,
rocks, cement, wood and debris. Also, control any present weeds.
3. Rough grade
the yard adding top soil where needed.
4. Add fertilizer
and lime and cultivate thoroughly.
5. If desired,
add ground irrigation.
6. Final grade the yard and fill in the low spots then lightly
roll.
7. Carefully
rake and level the seedbed. Use a piece of chain link fence or wood
for leveling.
8. Sow the seed
1/8" to 1/4" deep.
9. Lightly rake
the seed in and roll. Don't bury the seed.
10. Add mulch
(straw, peat moss, netting) and water thoroughly (soaking after
sowing and 3 or 4 light sprinklings each day).
